Qualcomm has introduced the Snapdragon X, a new chip in its Snapdragon X series, aimed at bringing Windows on Arm to more affordable laptops.

The Snapdragon X will help lower the cost of Copilot Plus PCs to around $600, making them more accessible to mainstream and budget users.

This new chip joins the existing Snapdragon X Plus and X Elite, with devices from Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo expected to feature it in the coming months.

While the Snapdragon X won’t match the performance of the X Plus or X Elite, Qualcomm promises improved performance per watt compared to Intel’s Core i5-1200U processor and better battery life.

The Snapdragon X features a Qualcomm Oryon CPU with eight cores, boosting up to 3GHz, and is built on a 4nm process node.

Additionally, Qualcomm is working on mini desktop PCs powered by the Snapdragon X, marking the potential launch of the first Copilot Plus mini PCs.

The Snapdragon X is set to impact the $600 laptop market, with more than 60 laptop designs currently in production and over 100 expected by 2026.
