Qualcomm has officially launched the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, bringing a significant performance boost over its predecessor.

This marks a major shift for the 6-series, as it moves to a TSMC 4nm process for improved power efficiency and introduces ARMv9 CPU cores for the first time.

    Performance & Efficiency Gains

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 features:

    • 1x Cortex-A720 prime core (2.3GHz)
    • 3x Cortex-A720 performance cores (2.2GHz)
    • 4x Cortex-A520 efficiency cores (1.8GHz)

While the CPU sees an 11% performance boost, the new Adreno GPU delivers a 29% increase—a notable upgrade for gaming. The chip is also 12% more efficient than its predecessor.

    AI & Gaming Features

Qualcomm has introduced INT4 support, enabling on-device AI processing with optimized memory usage.

The Adreno GPU now supports Snapdragon Game Super Resolution, allowing gaming up to 4K, and Adreno Frame Motion Engine, which doubles frame rates while keeping power consumption low.

    Camera & Multimedia

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 supports:

    • Up to 200MP camera sensors
    • Triple 12-bit ISPs
    • 4K HDR video recording at 30fps (HLG, HDR10)
    • Hardware acceleration for H.265 & VP9 (no AV1 support)

    Connectivity & Storage

The chipset is packed with premium connectivity options:

    • 5G with sub-6GHz & mmWave (2.9Gbps downlink speeds)
    • Wi-Fi 6E & Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX Adaptive
    • USB-C 3.1 with support for 4K 60Hz external displays
    • Support for up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM & UFS 3.1 storage

    First Phones Coming Soon

Realme, Oppo, and Honor will be among the first brands to launch devices powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, with India being one of the first markets to get them.

Surprisingly, these devices are expected to launch in the affordable $100-$150 price range.

More details on upcoming phones featuring this chipset will be revealed in the coming months.
