Mikayla had struggled with severe mental health issues including depression, autism, and borderline personality disorder. She had received therapy and medication for years but continued to face challenges.

Online Harassment Contributed to Her Death

Ethan revealed that Mikayla faced constant online harassment and bullying. The attacks came from strangers and people she knew personally, including other animal sanctuaries.

The harassment involved spreading false claims and rumors about her. These attacks deeply hurt Mikayla, who was sensitive by nature. Though she endured years of negativity, recent harassment became too much for her to bear.

Mikayla is survived by her husband Ethan, their toddler daughter Freya, her mother, and the many animals she cared for at Save A Fox.
