Samsung is gearing up to introduce its first-ever tri-fold smartphone in the second half of 2025, according to reports from Korea.

This move follows Huawei’s groundbreaking Mate XT, which debuted last year as the first device of its kind.

Limited Availability and Premium Pricing

Samsung plans to release fewer than 300,000 units initially, reflecting the complexity of producing such an advanced device.

The tri-fold smartphone is expected to be the most expensive foldable in Samsung’s lineup, targeting a niche audience willing to pay for cutting-edge innovation.

Key Features and Design

Unique Folding Mechanism: Unlike Huawei’s Mate XT, Samsung’s tri-fold device will fold differently, ensuring the folding screen is not exposed when closed, enhancing durability.

Screen Size: The device will feature two distinct unfolded screen sizes: 10.5 inches on one side and 12.4 inches on the other, based on translations from the Korean report.

No Under-Display Camera: Samsung has opted not to include an under-display camera, likely prioritizing display quality and reliability.

Challenges and Expectations

The tri-fold smartphone market is still in its infancy, and production challenges may limit availability.
