Samsung is gearing up for the launch of its next-generation Galaxy S smartphones. The Galaxy S25 series will likely continue the success of its predecessor, the Galaxy S24, which outsold the S23 series by 28% in early 2024. Here’s what we can expect from the Galaxy S25.
Samsung has not officially confirmed the date yet, but reports suggest the Galaxy S25 will be unveiled on January 22 or 23, 2025. Pre-orders are expected to start soon after, with open sales kicking off around February 6 or 7.
Leaks suggest the Galaxy S25 will feature the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset globally. This marks a shift from previous models, which had different chipsets for different regions. The smaller Galaxy S25 will come with 12GB of RAM, and the base storage may increase to 256GB, though this is not fully confirmed.
The design of the Galaxy S25 is expected to remain similar to previous models, with a few small changes. The phone will have thinner bezels, making it slightly smaller than the S24. The 6.2-inch FHD+ LTPO 120Hz display is likely to stay the same, with a potential upgrade to Gorilla Glass.
The Galaxy S25 will have a 4,000mAh battery with 25W wired and 15W wireless charging, similar to the S24. The new Qi2 charging standard will be supported, but without magnets embedded in the phone. Instead, Samsung will release magnet cases for those who want magnetic charging and accessories.
The camera setup will likely remain unchanged, with a 50MP main camera, 10MP 3x telephoto, and 12MP ultra-wide camera. The selfie camera will also stay at 12MP.
The Galaxy S25 will come with One UI 7, offering a new design and AI-powered features. Samsung is also expected to offer a free trial of Google’s Gemini Advanced AI for S25 buyers.
Leaked pricing suggests the Galaxy S25 will be priced similarly to the S24, with the 128GB model costing around SEK 11,490 in Sweden and EUR 899 in Germany.
The Galaxy S25 is shaping up to be a solid upgrade, but with few major changes in terms of design and specs. We’ll have to wait until the official announcement to confirm all the details.
