Ahead of its rumored April launch, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge has been teased with some interesting design changes. According to a new report, the back panel of the device will not be made of glass, as expected, but will instead be crafted from ceramic for improved durability.
While aluminum will still be used for the frame, the choice of ceramic for the back is a departure from previous models like the S25 and S25+, which feature Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
Ceramic is more scratch-resistant than glass, but it’s also more brittle and heavier, raising questions about the overall weight and durability of the device. It’s still unclear whether Samsung will use pure ceramic or a glass-ceramic mix, though the latter seems more likely given the S25 Edge’s rumored light weight.
Other rumored specs for the S25 Edge include a 5.84mm thickness, a 200MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 3,900mAh battery. The device will feature a similar screen to the S25+, with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset running the show, along with Android 15 and One UI 7.
If these rumors are true, the S25 Edge will be a unique, premium device with a ceramic back that differentiates it from its counterparts in the S25 lineup.
