The upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Elite could revolutionize high-end laptops and desktop computers, according to recent leaks.
The next-generation flagship processor is rumored to feature 18 ARM-based Oryon cores, 48GB RAM, and support for dedicated graphics cards, making it a powerful competitor to Apple and Intel’s latest chipsets.
Next-Gen Performance
The Snapdragon X2 Elite will reportedly house 18 custom Oryon CPU cores, Qualcomm’s in-house architecture, potentially combining performance and efficiency cores.
This marks a significant upgrade from the previous Snapdragon X Elite, which had only performance cores.
Built-in RAM and SSD
The chip is expected to follow the System-in-Package (SiP) design, integrating 48GB of RAM directly onto the chip, similar to Apple’s M4 chips and Intel’s upcoming Lunar Lake processors. Additionally, the leak mentions a 1TB NVMe SSD built into the device.
Gaming & Desktop Use
Unlike its predecessor, the Snapdragon X2 Elite will reportedly support dedicated GPUs, making it suitable for gaming laptops and desktop PCs.
This could help Qualcomm break into the gaming market, where its integrated GPUs previously struggled.
Availability
The Snapdragon X2 Elite is expected to launch in 2026, with more details likely to surface later this year.
