Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Elite Gen2 Set to Revolutionize Mobile Chipsets

Qualcomm is gearing up for a big move in the mobile chipset market with its Snapdragon 8s Elite Gen2.

The new chipset was recently spotted on Geekbench, hinting at Qualcomm’s innovative approach to the next-generation Snapdragon processors.

Dual-Chip Strategy

Reports indicate that Qualcomm will launch two flagship chipsets this year: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen2 and Snapdragon 8s Elite Gen2, with model numbers SM8850 and SM8835, respectively.

This dual-chip strategy marks a significant shift in Qualcomm’s approach, allowing for more flexibility and catering to various market segments.

Snapdragon 8s Elite Gen2 Features

The Snapdragon 8s Elite Gen2 is expected to adopt Qualcomm’s self-developed Oryon CPU architecture. Built on an advanced 3nm process, it will feature two super cores and four performance cores, with a maximum clock speed of 4.32GHz.

This makes it a lightweight version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen2, which will offer more aggressive frequency settings for higher performance.

Key Differences Between Snapdragon 8 Elite and 8s Elite Gen2

  • Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen2: Higher clock speeds and better overall performance.
  • Snapdragon 8s Elite Gen2: A slightly less powerful version, designed for a wider range of devices.

Future Devices

Some flagship devices launching later this year will feature both the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen2 and Snapdragon 8s Elite Gen2, providing manufacturers with more options for different price points and performance needs.

This dual-platform approach reflects Qualcomm’s strategy to maintain its leadership in the mobile chipset market, offering flexibility and catering to a broad spectrum of devices.
