A new Pokémon multiplayer game may have been leaked just days before Pokémon Presents 2025, fueling excitement for what could be a major surprise announcement.
The Pokémon Day event on February 27 is expected to showcase Pokémon Legends: Z-A, but a recent leak suggests that an additional game—possibly a multiplayer spin-off—could also be revealed.
A Mysterious Tease Sparks Speculation
The leak comes from Pyoro, a well-known Nintendo insider, who posted a cryptic image of a synapse on social media.
While this might seem unrelated to Pokémon at first glance, it directly connects to a previous Game Freak leak, which referenced a mystery project codenamed “Pokémon Synapse”.
According to past reports, Pokémon Synapse is a multiplayer Pokémon spin-off being co-developed by Game Freak and ILCA—the studio behind Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl.
While there’s no official confirmation, and Pyoro’s track record is hit-or-miss, the timing of the tease—just before Pokémon Presents—has fueled speculation that a new multiplayer Pokémon game could be one of the event’s big surprises.
Pokémon’s Multiplayer Ambitions
The Pokémon franchise has experimented with multiplayer and online gameplay in various ways, from the battle and trading systems in the mainline games to Pokémon GO’s global success.
However, the series has yet to establish a definitive traditional multiplayer experience beyond these formats.
If Pokémon Synapse is indeed real, it could be Nintendo’s next big attempt at bringing Pokémon into the online multiplayer space.
Official Announcement Coming Soon?
So far, neither Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, Game Freak, nor ILCA have commented on these rumors.
While Pokémon Presents 2025 is expected to focus on Pokémon Legends: Z-A, there’s a strong possibility that this leaked game could also make an appearance.
With just days until Pokémon Presents, fans won’t have to wait long to find out. Will Pokémon Synapse be the next big Pokémon multiplayer experience? Stay tuned for official news on Pokémon Day!
