The iconic alert slider, a hallmark of OnePlus phones since the OnePlus 2 in 2015 and used by Oppo since 2023, may be getting a redesign.
According to leaks from tipster Digital Chat Station, both Oppo and OnePlus are planning to replace the alert slider with a new multi-purpose button in their upcoming flagship models.
The Rubik’s Cube Key
The new button, reportedly dubbed the “Rubik’s Cube key,” is expected to retain the familiar one-click mute functionality of the alert slider.
However, it will offer more flexibility, allowing users to assign additional shortcuts such as toggling the flash, camera, and translator.
The button will also support app quick-launching, adding even more convenience for users.
Debut on Oppo Find X8 Ultra and OnePlus 14
The Rubik’s Cube key is rumored to debut on the Oppo Find X8 Ultra and is expected to make its way to the OnePlus 14 series later on, signaling a significant shift in both brands’ user interface design.
