One UI 7 for Samsung Galaxy S24: Release Date Still Unclear

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 launch was a major milestone, but software updates could bring frustration. While the S25 ships with Android 15 and One UI 7, its security update is outdated, only including December’s patches.

Security Risks and Delayed Fixes

Google’s February security update addresses a critical zero-day exploit (CVE-2024-53104), but Samsung’s patch does not include it yet. This vulnerability affects Android’s Linux kernel and is already being exploited in limited attacks. Users will have to wait for Samsung to roll out a fix.

Additionally, another critical issue (CVE-2024-45569) affecting Qualcomm chipsets is missing from Samsung’s February update. Samsung usually delays third-party chipset fixes by a month, meaning users may have to wait until March.

One UI 7 Delay for Galaxy S24 Users

For Galaxy S24 owners, the wait for One UI 7 with Android 15 continues. Samsung originally planned to release it by the end of Q1 2025, but reports suggest the February security update might arrive before the full software upgrade.

Samsung support has not provided a clear timeline, leading to speculation about a slight delay. While One UI 7 promises better security and features, the slow rollout is frustrating users eager for the update.

What Should You Do?

  • Galaxy S25 owners: Expect an updated security patch soon, but currently, your device lacks the latest protections.
  • Galaxy S24 owners: The One UI 7 update is still in development, but security patches will likely arrive first.
  • All users: Install updates as soon as they become available to keep your device secure.

Samsung’s patchy update process remains a pain point, even as it moves toward seamless updates like Google’s Pixel devices. Until then, users will have to wait for critical security fixes and Android 15’s full release.
