Apple is reportedly planning a major product overhaul for 2027, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
After a few years of relatively incremental updates, Apple is set to refresh its lineup with exciting new devices and technologies, marking what Gurman refers to as a “product renaissance.”
Here’s a closer look at what’s coming.
1. All-New iPhones
The biggest highlight will be Apple’s first foldable iPhone, expected to debut at the end of 2026, alongside the iPhone 18 lineup.
This foldable will aim to set itself apart from competitors like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold with a crease-free display and a durable titanium frame. However, it will be priced at a premium, targeting the high-end foldable phone market.
In addition to the foldable, Apple is planning a special 20th anniversary iPhone. This model is expected to feature a massive redesign with a mostly glass, curved design and no display cutouts, setting it apart from traditional iPhone designs.
2. AI-Powered Hardware
Apple is venturing into new product categories powered by AI technology. One notable product is a new pair of Apple Glasses, which could rival Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses.
These glasses will come equipped with cameras, microphones, and speakers to create an immersive and interactive experience using Apple’s Visual Intelligence technology.
Apple is also planning new AirPods and Apple Watch models with built-in cameras, allowing further integration of AI and Visual Intelligence into its wearable devices.
3. Siri 2.0: Finally Living Up to the Hype
By 2027, Apple aims to deliver an upgraded Siri that truly taps into AI potential. This revamped Siri will be powered by Apple Silicon-based AI chips and a new conversational user interface based on large language models (LLMs).
This is expected to be integrated into iOS 20, though Siri’s improvements have been delayed from the original launch of iOS 19.
4. Robotics and AI Assistants
Apple is working on an entirely new category of robotics products, set to debut by 2027. One of the first of these devices will be a tabletop machine with a robotic arm, featuring an AI assistant with its own personality.
This new product will be part of Apple’s expanding smart home ecosystem, which has faced some delays but is finally expected to come to market by 2027.
5. Looking Ahead to 2028 and Beyond
After 2027, Apple is said to be planning an even more ambitious product category: a foldable iPad with a touchscreen Mac. However, this product will likely be available no earlier than 2028.
Apple’s “product renaissance” planned for 2027 promises a significant shake-up in its lineup, with exciting new products and innovations on the horizon.
From foldable iPhones and AI-powered glasses to a revamped Siri and robotics, Apple is poised to bring fresh, game-changing devices to the market.
However, as with any major product launch, timelines are fluid, and we can expect delays or adjustments as these products continue to develop.
