Google is now rolling out a fresh Android 14 update for Chromecast with Google TV, following a delayed and buggy initial release earlier this year.
Originally expected in 2024, the update finally started rolling out in March 2025 but was pulled due to issues. Now, a new version — UTTC.241218.008.H1.13427172 — is available. It’s being pushed to both users who already got the earlier Android 14 update and those still on Android 12.
The update keeps the January 2025 security patch and includes the following improvements:
- Upgrades Android TV from version 12 to version 14
- Adds Find My Remote and a Customizable Button to the Google TV Voice Remote
- Improves system stability and performance
- Fixes for issues like external storage access and crashes in certain Settings menus
However, some problems remain, including issues with Ethernet adapters and USB debugging/ADB, which are still reported as non-functional after the patch.
To install the update, go to:
Settings > System > About > System update on your Chromecast with Google TV device.
