A yet-to-be-released Netflix documentary, directed by Ezra Edelman, delves into this theory. Journalist Sasha Weiss, who previewed the film, noted that it includes footage of Questlove expressing disbelief over Prince’s exclusion from the Rolling Stone list.
According to Weiss, Prince was known to hold onto slights, and this omission may have fueled his electric performance.
The documentary also reveals that Prince watched the performance repeatedly after the event, suggesting it held deep personal significance.
