Michelle Trachtenberg, the actress known for her roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, has died at the age of 39.
Police sources confirmed that Trachtenberg was found dead in her New York City apartment near Columbus Circle on Wednesday morning. Her mother discovered her body at around 8 a.m. local time.
The actress recently underwent a liver transplant and may have suffered complications, according to officials. No foul play is suspected, and authorities believe she died of natural causes.
The medical examiner’s office will conduct an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.

Trachtenberg, a New York City native, began acting as a child. She starred in Nickelodeon’s The Adventures of Pete & Pete before landing her breakout role in Harriet the Spy (1996).
She later gained fame as Dawn Summers in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and appeared in hit shows like Gossip Girl.
Her career also included roles in EuroTrip (2004), Ice Princess (2005), and 17 Again (2009).
