Meta Launches AI Features for Ray-Ban Glasses in Europe

Meta has introduced certain AI features to Ray-Ban Meta glasses in France, Italy, and Spain. Users can now use voice commands to ask Meta AI general questions in local languages.

The update includes support for French, Italian, and Spanish, in addition to English. However, multimodal features like camera-based visual analysis are not yet available in these countries.

Meta noted challenges in complying with Europe’s AI Act and GDPR privacy regulations. The company is working to expand features to more European countries.

The AI assistant can answer questions like gift recommendations, but cannot yet analyze visual content captured by the glasses’ camera in these markets.

Meta previously paused AI training on European user data pending regulatory review. The company continues to navigate complex European tech regulations.

The Ray-Ban Meta glasses, launched in September 2023, represent Meta’s ongoing efforts to integrate AI into wearable technology across different global markets.
