If you use an iPhone and enjoy Apple’s new AI features, don’t expect them to work inside Meta apps like Instagram or Facebook.
Meta has decided not to support Apple Intelligence in any of its major platforms, including WhatsApp, Threads, and Messenger.
Apple Intelligence, first released in October, allows users to access tools like Writing Tools, Genmojis, and Image Playground in native Apple apps such as Mail, Messages, and Notes.
These features are available across most apps on iOS, but only when developers choose to support them. Meta has chosen not to.
This means users can’t use AI-generated Genmojis in Instagram Stories or get writing assistance while posting on Facebook.
Even Elon Musk’s X supports Writing Tools, despite having its own AI system, Grok. But Meta is going a different route by sticking to its own Meta AI tools instead.
Some see this as a sign of ongoing tension between Apple and Meta. Apple’s App Tracking Transparency feature, which limits how apps track user behavior, has already affected Meta’s advertising model.
Now, Meta may be taking a stand by limiting Apple’s reach into its apps.
As the AI competition heats up, Meta seems determined to keep full control of its platforms—and that includes blocking Apple Intelligence.
