The upcoming Lenovo ThinkPad X9 14/15 is set to break from tradition by omitting the iconic TrackPoint, marking a significant design shift for the series.
The latest leak reveals that Lenovo’s new ThinkPad X9 14/15, expected to be unveiled at CES 2025, will feature a design without the beloved TrackPoint, a signature feature of the ThinkPad line.
The leak, shared by the reliable source WalkingCat, confirms that the new model will be powered by a Core Ultra 200 processor, though it’s still unclear whether this will be from Intel’s Arrow Lake or Lunar Lake lineup.
In addition to the absence of the TrackPoint, the ThinkPad X9 is also notably thinner and comes with limited input options, including USB Type-C, Type-A, and a mini-jack port.
This design choice suggests it may not cater to professionals who often connect multiple external devices, unless they use adapters.
Promotional materials hint at the inclusion of wireless audio, a mouse, and a large mouse pad, which may be bundled with the laptop.
Lenovo has also teased other upcoming products, such as a rollable screen laptop and a system with an under-display camera, but the ThinkPad X9 is certainly one of the most talked-about releases in the lead-up to CES 2025.
