Kendrick Lamar Leads 2025 US Rap Album Sales as GNX Hits 1.8 Million Units

Kendrick Lamar Super Bowl Half Time Show 2025

Kendrick Lamar’s album GNX has topped rap album sales in the United States for 2025, with 1.8 million units sold, according to industry data.

The record, boosted by Lamar’s high-profile rivalry with Drake and strong fan engagement, led both sales and streaming charts throughout the year.

In second place was $$$4U, a collaboration between Drake and PartyNextDoor, with 1.3 million units sold. Playboi Carti’s MUSIC followed in third, reaching 1 million units, largely through streaming.

Other strong performers included Lil Baby’s WHAM with 667,000 units, BigXthaPlug’s Take Care with 652,000, Tyler, The Creator’s CHROMAKOPIA with 649,000, and Doechii’s Alligator Bites Never Heal with 621,000.

Older albums also remained popular. Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city (2012) and DAMN. (2017) ranked eighth and ninth with 618,000 and 587,000 units, while Drake’s Take Care (2011) placed tenth with 568,000.

Analysts say the 2025 rap market highlights both the strength of new releases and the lasting appeal of classic albums, with streaming platforms driving much of the demand.

Lamar’s dominance was further amplified by cultural moments, including his public feud with Drake and his performance at the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show.
