iPhone 17 & iPhone 17 Air Won’t Feature 5x Optical Zoom Lens

The iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air will not feature the 5x optical zoom lens, which will remain exclusive to the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models.

The 5x zoom lens uses a tetraprism camera system that fits in the thicker Pro models, but not the thinner Air model.

The iPhone 17 Air is expected to have a 6.6-inch display, a single 48MP rear camera, and the A19 chip, similar to the iPhone SE in terms of photography.

It will also debut with Apple’s custom 5G modem, reducing reliance on Qualcomm, though the benefits are unclear.

More details will be available as the release approaches in March 2025.
