At MWC 2025, HMD introduced a new smartphone designed specifically for teenagers, the Fusion X1, alongside a special FC Barcelona edition.

With a focus on safety and entertainment, the Fusion X1 offers robust parental control features and customization options, making it a great choice for young users.

Fusion X1 Features

The Fusion X1 is equipped with a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, and comes in two memory options: 6GB RAM/128GB storage or 8GB RAM/256GB storage. The phone offers expandable storage via a hybrid SIM/microSD slot.

It features a 6.56-inch LCD display with a 720×1612 resolution and 90Hz refresh rate, offering a decent experience for everyday use. The phone’s brightness peaks at 600 nits in boost mode, making it usable even in bright environments.

With a 5,000 mAh battery, the Fusion X1 supports 33W fast charging, ensuring that it can last all day and charge quickly. Other notable features include a 3.5mm audio jack, NFC, and Android 14 with updates for two major OS upgrades and three years of security patches.

The 108MP main camera with a 2MP depth sensor and a 50MP front camera provide solid photography performance for this price range.

Xplora Parental Control Platform

A key feature of the Fusion X1 is the integration of the Xplora parental control platform. This service allows parents to manage their child’s device by controlling screen time, tracking locations, approving apps, and more. The subscription to Xplora is typically a paid service, but it’s unclear how long the free subscription will last with the device.

Fusion X1 and Accessories

In addition to the phone’s standard features, the Fusion X1 supports HMD’s Fusion accessory platform. The phone includes six smart pins on its back, which are compatible with accessories like a ring light, gaming controller, or an extra battery for added functionality.

FC Barcelona Edition

For football fans, HMD is releasing a FC Barcelona edition of the Fusion X1, which retains the same specs but comes with exclusive features. These include a UV-reactive case with player signatures, special FC Barcelona-themed visuals, and pre-loaded FC Barcelona apps. Players’ greetings and themed sounds add a unique personal touch.

The Fusion X1 is available for purchase now, with the FC Barcelona edition appealing to sports fans looking for a personalized smartphone experience.
