Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury is set to make his debut for Bangladesh, bringing a major boost to the team’s value and reputation.

The Sheffield United loanee officially switched his international allegiance from England to Bangladesh in December 2024. He qualifies to play for Bangladesh through his mother’s heritage.

Choudhury’s inclusion has significantly increased Bangladesh’s market value. Before his addition, the team was worth €4.09 million. Now, with his market value of €4.50 million, Bangladesh’s total squad value has jumped to €8.59 million.

This makes Bangladesh the most valuable football team in South Asia, surpassing India, whose squad is valued at €5.88 million.

Bangladesh will face India on March 25 in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers. This will be Choudhury’s first official match for the national team.

His presence has already made a big impact, as his individual market value (€4.50 million) is higher than India’s expected starting eleven combined (€2.85 million).

Despite this increase, Bangladesh is still ranked 19th in Asia in terms of squad value. Japan leads with €306 million, followed by South Korea (€134.10 million) and Uzbekistan (€47 million).

Choudhury is the first Premier League player to represent Bangladesh. His decision is expected to inspire young footballers in the country and help the team improve on the international stage. Fans are eagerly waiting to see his performance in the upcoming match against India.
