GTA Online’s New Age Check System Hints at GTA 6 Online Changes

Take-Two Interactive has reaffirmed the official release date for Grand Theft Auto VI as May 26, 2026, according to its latest investor presentation. While Rockstar Games remains silent publicly, signs of new features and preparations for the launch are already visible.

One notable update is the addition of an age verification system in GTA Online. Initially discovered through code strings, the feature has now appeared in real in-game menus.

It will require players in certain regions—starting likely with the UK—to verify their age before accessing online features such as chat, text messaging, and user-generated content uploads.

This change aligns with compliance requirements under local online safety laws. Rockstar is expected to integrate the same system into GTA 6’s online mode.

Speculation about pricing continues, with analysts predicting a $100 launch price. However, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has not confirmed any figures. Historical trends suggest a $70 standard edition, alongside more expensive deluxe and ultimate editions offering exclusive content and bonuses.

PC players remain without a confirmed release window. Rockstar has historically launched its titles on consoles first, with PC versions arriving months later. The initial launch will be on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Industry watchers note that Take-Two has several major releases scheduled for late summer and early fall, which could delay major GTA 6 marketing pushes until after September.
