Grok to Let Users Control X Feeds Starting December

Elon Musk has confirmed that X’s feed algorithm will be fully powered by artificial intelligence by November 2025. Users will also be able to customize their feeds through Grok, xAI’s chatbot, starting in December.

Musk shared the update in a reply on X, responding to a post from X product head Nikita Bier. Bier had discussed plans to make feeds more niche-focused and reduce unrelated content such as fight videos.

Musk wrote, “The algorithm will be purely AI by November, with significant progress along the way. We will open source the algorithm every two weeks or so. By November or certainly December, you will be able to adjust your feed dynamically just by asking Grok.”

The new AI-driven system aims to make feeds more personal. Users will be able to tell Grok what they want to see, including specific topics or content styles. The open-source plan will allow developers to review the algorithm and suggest improvements every two weeks.

This announcement follows recent updates to Grok. In July 2025, xAI released Grok 4, which introduced better tool use and real-time search. The model now serves 64 million monthly users. Earlier this month, Musk suggested that xAI might achieve artificial general intelligence with the upcoming Grok 5.

X users reacted positively to the news. Some described the update as a “game-changer for personalized discovery,” while others said it could end “shadowbanning.”

The move highlights Musk’s push for transparent AI on X and positions the platform as a leader in AI-driven social media, giving users more control over their experience through natural language commands.
