Grok AI App Launches on iOS, No X Account Required

Grok, the AI chatbot developed by xAI (a sibling company to X), is now available as a free app on iOS without requiring an X account.

Previously, Grok was only accessible to X Premium subscribers, but as of this week, anyone can download the app and start using it immediately.

Users can also sign in via Apple, Google, or email if they wish, but it’s not necessary to access the AI.

The app offers 10 requests every two hours, along with three image analysis requests and four image generations per day, which mirrors the free plan available for X users.

Despite its current popularity—ranking as the fourth most popular free app on the iOS App Store—the question remains whether Grok can maintain long-term engagement.

While Grok’s speed is impressive, its lack of filters might set it apart in a less favorable way. Unlike other AI services that have restrictions, Grok can generate a wider variety of images, including potentially offensive or controversial content.

This has raised concerns over its potential misuse, as users can easily bypass safeguards and create questionable images.

Despite these concerns, Grok’s accessibility and speed could attract users, especially those who are already familiar with X and Elon Musk’s ventures.

However, it remains to be seen if Grok can compete with established AI tools like ChatGPT in the long run.
