Google is preparing a fresh, colorful redesign for its Google TV app on Android. The update, based on the new Material 3 Expressive design language, will add vibrant colors, gradients, and larger buttons to make the app more lively and modern.
The current Google TV app interface is mostly gray and dull. The upcoming update will bring accent colors that change based on the preview images shown in the app, making the interface more dynamic. The “For You” tab, loading screen, and some movie/show pages will get these bright new accents. For example, the “Connect TV” button will switch from gray to a bold blue color.
These visual changes were discovered in a recent beta version (4.39.3208.761013668.5) through an APK teardown, which reveals upcoming features still in development. However, these updates are not yet available to users and are expected to roll out only after the release of Android 16 QPR1.
Google has been updating its apps to follow the Material 3 Expressive style, which aims to give Android apps a more colorful and expressive look. Users can expect similar design improvements in apps like Google One, Google Photos, and Files by Google.
For now, Google TV fans will need to wait for the stable Android 16 update before seeing these changes.
