Google Surges Ahead in AI with New Gemini Features

Google quietly gave its Gemini AI a big upgrade that could change the AI race. At its recent I/O event, Google showed how important AI is to its future. The Gemini AI model will be used in many Google products, including smart glasses, Google Search, and Gmail.

The latest Gemini update lets users schedule tasks and set recurring actions. For example, you can ask Gemini to give you a daily summary of your calendar and unread emails, or get new blog ideas every Monday.

You can also get updates on your favorite sports team or ask Gemini to summarize an event after it happens. This new feature is available for Gemini Pro and Ultra users, as well as some Google Workspace business and education plans.

This upgrade makes Gemini more like a true AI assistant, which is a goal many tech companies are working toward. Google has usually been second to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, but this new update could give Gemini a strong advantage.

Meanwhile, Apple is still behind in the AI assistant race. Siri, launched in 2011, has not kept up with newer AI models like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. Apple planned to release a new version of Siri this year but internal issues delayed it. The new Siri might not appear until next year.

AI remains a challenge for Apple despite its partnership with OpenAI. Rumors say Apple will not highlight AI at its upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference starting Monday.
