Google Keeps Stadia Controller Relevant with Extended Conversion Tool

Google has extended the Stadia Controller conversion tool through the end of 2025, ensuring the controller remains usable despite Stadia’s shutdown nearly two years ago.

The tool allows users to enable Bluetooth on the controller, making it compatible with devices like phones, tablets, and computers.

The Stadia Controller, launched in 2019 alongside Google’s cloud gaming platform, was praised for its comfortable design.

Initially designed to reduce input latency via direct Wi-Fi connection to Google’s servers, the controller became obsolete when Stadia shut down in 2023. The conversion tool has since offered a lifeline, allowing it to function as a Bluetooth controller.

Originally set to expire at the end of 2023, the tool’s availability was extended through 2024, and now quietly updated for 2025.

This extension keeps the Stadia Controller an affordable option in the used market, offering a budget-friendly alternative to other gaming controllers.

While the tool remains a web app, Google’s decision to impose deadlines on its use remains unclear. Additionally, the tool includes an “update” option for Bluetooth-enabled controllers, though no updates have been released since its launch.

This move gives Stadia Controller owners extra time to repurpose their hardware, ensuring its continued relevance for gaming setups.
