Fortnite Set to Rejoin US App Store, Thanks to Swedish Epic Games Account

Epic Games is planning to use its Sweden-based developer account to bring Fortnite back to the US iOS App Store, according to CEO Tim Sweeney.

This move comes after a recent court ruling in the Epic Games v. Apple case, which prevents Apple from blocking external payment links in apps—though Apple has appealed the decision.

Apple had terminated Epic’s US App Store developer account back in 2020 after the company introduced its own in-app payment system in Fortnite, which sparked the ongoing legal conflict.

To get around this ban, Epic now plans to use its European developer credentials, originally created to launch Fortnite and the Epic Games Store in the EU.

Although Sweeney confirmed that Fortnite wouldn’t return to iOS on Monday or Tuesday, he added that the team is working hard to get it back online soon, though no exact date has been provided yet.

The timing aligns with Fortnite’s new Star Wars-themed season, which launched last week.
