A massive 73,000-word report has surfaced online, detailing the behind-the-scenes drama of FiveM, the popular GTA 5 roleplay mod, and its acquisition by Rockstar Games.
The report, titled “The Fall of FiveM,” claims that the original developers have left and that Rockstar may be replacing FiveM with a new project.
FiveM’s Rise and Rockstar’s Acquisition
FiveM was first created in 2015, allowing players to run custom multiplayer servers in GTA 5, with roleplay (RP) becoming one of its most popular uses. The mod grew so large that Rockstar acquired its team, Cfx.re, in 2023—a move that initially seemed like a big win for the community.
However, the new report suggests that this takeover led to internal conflict. It claims that certain modders joined the FiveM team before the acquisition and secretly tried to sell the project to Rockstar.
The original creator eventually agreed, but was later removed from Rockstar after an alleged campaign against him by those same new members.
Allegations of Leaks and FiveM’s Uncertain Future
The report also makes serious allegations about the 2023 GTA 5 source code leak. It claims that some of the new developers gained access to confidential Rockstar information and allegedly shared it with others.
The report suggests that these individuals were involved in leaking GTA 5’s source code in December 2023, which could explain how the leak happened.
According to the report, no original FiveM developers remain on the project, and Rockstar is working on a replacement called ROME (Rockstar Online Modding Engine). If true, this could mean the end of FiveM as players know it.
While the report is written by community members and not the original FiveM team, it has sparked widespread discussion in the GTA RP community.
Many are now left wondering what Rockstar’s next move will be and whether FiveM will continue to exist in the long run.
