Drake’s lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG) has taken an unexpected turn as the record label claims he has withdrawn some of his allegations. However, Drake’s legal team has not confirmed this statement.
According to reports, UMG has asked the court to delay the pretrial conference set for April 2. The company argues that Drake’s lawsuit has no strong legal basis and will not succeed in court. UMG’s lawyers, led by Rollin A. Ransom, plan to file a motion on March 17 to dismiss the case entirely.
Drake initially sued UMG over its involvement in promoting Kendrick Lamar’s track Not Like Us, which accused him of being a pedophile. The rapper claims that UMG helped spread the song, making the false accusations go viral.
While UMG’s lawyers say Drake has dropped some claims, there is no clear confirmation on which allegations, if any, he has withdrawn. As the legal fight continues, both sides are preparing for what could be a major court battle in the music industry.
