CBS Recasts Sean Reagan for Boston Blue Spinoff Series

CBS has officially recast the role of Sean Reagan in its upcoming Blue Bloods spinoff series Boston Blue. The new show, set to premiere this fall, picks up after the original series ended in 2024 following a 14-season run.

Actor Mika Amonsen will now portray Sean Reagan, replacing Andrew Terraciano, who played the character in nearly every episode of Blue Bloods.

The new series sees Sean moving to Boston with his father, Detective Danny Reagan, played by Donnie Wahlberg, as he begins his career as a patrol officer in the Boston Police Department.

According to CBS, the decision to recast was made to reflect the show’s new direction. Sean’s character is described as having “committed himself to pursuing his family’s legacy but wanted to do so on his own terms,” choosing to serve outside his hometown of New York.

Wahlberg returns as Danny Reagan, now partnered with Detective Lena Silver, played by Sonequa Martin-Green. Silver is described as the accomplished eldest daughter of a respected law enforcement family, bringing a fresh dynamic to the spinoff.

Mika Amonsen’s previous credits include roles in Reacher (Prime Video), Designated Survivor (ABC), and the 2023 horror film Thanksgiving.

Terraciano, who began his role on Blue Bloods as a child alongside his real-life brother Tony, starred in 292 of the show’s 293 episodes. In a farewell post on Instagram, he thanked fans for their support, calling the experience “a fantastic ride.”

Boston Blue is set to debut in Blue Bloods’ longtime Friday 10 p.m. time slot.
