Bad News for RX 9070 GRE Fans as AMD Delays Launch to Q4 2025

AMD has reportedly changed the launch dates for two of its upcoming Radeon graphics cards. The Radeon RX 9060 XT, originally expected in June, will now launch earlier on May 18, 2025.

This update includes both 16 GB and 8 GB models of the RX 9060 XT, which are aimed at mainstream gamers. These cards will use the RDNA 4 architecture and come with a 128-bit memory bus and GDDR6 memory, offering up to 320 GB/s bandwidth. They are expected to be priced between $300 and $400.

This new release date is just before Computex 2025, where AMD partners may showcase these new cards. It is not yet clear if AMD will do a full launch or just an announcement, but many expect the latter.

On the other hand, the launch of the Radeon RX 9070 GRE, which features 12 GB of memory and a 192-bit bus, has been delayed. It was supposed to launch on May 8, but now the release is moved to Q4 2025, likely around the major sales season in China.

The RX 9070 GRE is based on a trimmed version of the Navi 48 GPU. While disappointing for those waiting, this delay might give AMD more time to fine-tune the product for better regional performance, especially in the Asia-Pacific market.

With these changes, AMD seems to be focusing on gaining ground in the mid-range market while holding off on regional GRE models for a more strategic release later in the year.
