Apple is preparing to launch its first OLED MacBook Pro in 2026, according to a new supply chain report from Korea.
The OLED panels will be supplied by Samsung Display, which is currently developing early samples.
Full production is expected to start next year, with annual shipments projected between 3 to 5 million units.
New Design and Features
The 2026 OLED MacBook Pro will introduce a new design, featuring a hole-punch webcam instead of the notch. The switch to thinner OLED panels will also make the laptop lighter and slimmer than current models.
However, those waiting for an OLED MacBook Air will have to wait much longer. According to the latest report, Apple won’t release an OLED MacBook Air until 2029 at the earliest. This contradicts earlier rumors suggesting a 2027 or 2028 launch.
When the OLED MacBook Air finally arrives, it is expected to feature a single-stack OLED panel, which will be less bright than the two-stack panels used in the MacBook Pro models.
What’s Next?
Apple’s transition to OLED screens for its laptops will bring better contrast, deeper blacks, and improved power efficiency, but some users may be concerned about burn-in and PWM flickering issues commonly associated with OLED technology.
As development progresses, more details about the next-generation MacBook Pro and MacBook Air should emerge. Until then, OLED fans will have to wait patiently for Apple’s laptop display upgrade.
