Apple Adds Digital Purchase Transfers, But There’s a Catch

Apple has introduced a new feature that allows users to transfer their digital purchases to another Apple account.

This means you can now move your apps, music, and other content from a secondary Apple account to your primary one.

How Does It Work?

The transfer process only works one way—from a secondary account (used for purchases) to a primary account (the one signed into iCloud).

If you have separate Apple accounts for purchases and iCloud services, you may now consolidate them.

However, there are some major limitations:

  • The feature is not available in the EU, UK, or India.
  • The transfer process is complex, requiring several steps and specific conditions.

A Long-Awaited Change with Restrictions

Apple’s account system has long been restrictive, and while this new feature provides more flexibility, it still comes with many limitations.

Users who qualify for the transfer will need to follow a detailed procedure, which Apple has outlined in its official documentation.

If you have multiple Apple accounts, this could be a useful way to merge your digital library—but only if you meet Apple’s strict requirements.
