Amazon to Shutdown Freevee Streaming Service

Amazon Freevee

Amazon has decided to shut down Freevee, its free streaming service with ads. The service’s content will move to Prime Video.

Non-Prime members will still be able to watch new episodes of Freevee shows on Prime Video. The change will happen “over the coming weeks.”

Freevee started in 2019 as IMDb Freedive, then became IMDb TV, and finally Freevee in 2022. It offered original shows like “Bosch: Legacy” and “Jury Duty.”

Amazon says this change will make streaming simpler for customers. Free content, including some Amazon originals and licensed shows, will remain available to non-Prime members through Prime Video.

The move comes after Amazon added ads to Prime Video in January 2024.
