Amazon Acquires Bee, the AI Device That Records and Summarizes Your Day

Amazon has announced its acquisition of Bee, a tech startup that makes an AI-powered wearable device designed to listen to and transcribe conversations. The small, wrist-worn gadget, priced at $49.99, creates daily summaries, reminders, and personalized suggestions based on spoken interactions.

Bee CEO Maria de Lourdes Zollo confirmed the deal in a LinkedIn post, saying the team is joining Amazon to help bring “truly personal, agentic AI to even more customers.”

The device operates similarly to a Fitbit, but with advanced AI capabilities. It can also access emails, contacts, location, calendar events, and more — if granted permission — to build a searchable memory of the user’s day.

Amazon spokesperson Alexandra Miller said the company will maintain Bee’s focus on user privacy. Bee has previously stated that it does not store audio recordings, and Miller emphasized that Amazon will give users “even greater control” over their data following the acquisition.

“We design our products to protect our customers’ privacy and security,” Miller said. “That approach will continue with Bee.” Although the device has shown promise, some early reviews highlighted challenges, such as the AI confusing real conversations with background media like TV shows or music.

The financial terms of the acquisition remain undisclosed, but all Bee employees have reportedly been offered roles at Amazon. This move comes as Amazon continues expanding its AI product lineup, positioning Bee’s wearable as a potential step forward in building more personalized, context-aware technologies.
