Netflix revealed more details today about its upcoming permanent ‘Netflix House’ retail destinations, including where the first two venues will open in 2025 – Dallas, Texas and King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.
The initial Netflix House locations will take over former department store sites in the popular Galleria Dallas and King of Prussia Mall shopping centers, providing over 100,000 square feet of space for each venue.
While light on specifics, Netflix says the destinations will feature “regularly updated immersive experiences” themed around its popular shows and films, as well as “unique food and drink offerings.” Outside, fans can expect “eye-popping sculptures and a mural mash-up of characters from their favorite Netflix titles.
“The move to open the first Netflix Houses in shopping malls seems a natural fit, as the third season of Stranger Things prominently featured the fictional Starcourt Mall. Though that mall set was closed to the public during filming, Netflix has found success with previous themed pop-up experiences.
“These will be a fantastic new entrainment destination for fans to dive into the amazing stories from our series and films in a new and hugely fun way,” said Marian Lee, Netflix’s Chief Marketing Officer.
Netflix is likely hoping the permanent attractions can help revitalize shopping malls struggling with vacant retail spaces left by defunct chains like Sears. If successful, the Netflix House venues could pave the way for similar retail experiences from other major streaming platforms.
