The future of Law & Order: Organized Crime is still uncertain as fans wait for news about a possible new season.

The crime drama first premiered in April 2021 and follows Christopher Meloni as Detective Elliot Stabler. The character returns to the NYPD after the murder of his wife and begins leading investigations into major criminal organizations.

Recently, cast member Danielle Moné Truitt was asked on social media whether the series would return for another season. Truitt, who plays Sergeant Ayanna Bell, responded with a simple answer: she is “not sure.”

The show’s fifth season ended in June 2025, leaving the story open for more cases. However, the series has not yet received an official renewal since moving from NBC to the streaming platform Peacock.

Reports suggest the series is currently “not very active,” though producers are looking for a new showrunner. If a new creative leader is found, the chances of the show continuing could improve.

The series has already gone through several showrunner changes since its debut. Matt Olmstead, one of the co-creators, returned as an executive producer to help guide the show during its move to Peacock.

Meanwhile, Meloni has signed on to star in a new Hulu series called The Land. Even so, earlier reports said the new project would not stop him from returning as Stabler if Organized Crime gets another season.

For now, fans of the Law & Order universe will have to wait for an official decision about whether the Stabler-focused spinoff will return.
