Samsung has unveiled its first trifold smartphone, the Galaxy Z TriFold, at CES 2026, marking a major step in foldable device design. The phone-tablet hybrid was first announced in December 2025 and launched in limited numbers in South Korea on 12 December.

The Galaxy Z TriFold unfolds twice to reveal a 10-inch display, aimed at users who want a larger screen for work and entertainment. Samsung says the device is designed to replace the need for both a smartphone and a small tablet.

The main screen is a 10-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate, while the cover screen measures 6.5 inches. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, with 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.

Samsung highlighted durability as a key focus of the design. The phone uses a titanium hinge housing and an Advanced Armor Aluminum frame, with a hinge tested to withstand more than 200,000 folds. Haptic feedback and on-screen alerts help guide users to fold the device correctly.

The Galaxy Z TriFold also introduces new software features, including standalone Samsung DeX with support for multiple workspaces. Galaxy AI tools such as Photo Assist and real-time Gemini Live are built in, running on Android 16 with One UI 8.

The device is currently available in markets including South Korea, Singapore, the UAE, China, and Taiwan. A US launch is expected in the first quarter of 2026, with pricing estimated at around $2,500.
