Stranger Things Hits Lowest Audience Score Yet After Volume 2 Drops

Stranger Things Season 5 faces criticism after Volume 2 arrived on Christmas Day. Audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes fell to 66%, the lowest in the series. Critics still rate the season at 84%.

One Episode Draws Heavy Criticism

Episode 7, titled “The Bridge,” caused most of the backlash. The episode features an emotional conversation with Will that connects to Vecna’s mental attacks. Many viewers called the scene forced and poorly timed.

The Duffer Brothers said this scene was the hardest they ever wrote. Still, fans argued it slowed the story during critical moments. The Upside Down threats and chaos in Hawkins needed more focus, they said.

Some Fans Defend the Episode

Not everyone agreed with the criticism. Supporters pointed to strong emotional moments throughout Volume 2. One scene shows Lucas carrying Max to safety. Fans praised this moment for adding heart to the action.

Netflix released a new poster for Chapter 6. It features Lucas and Max against a fiery Upside Down background. The image suggests bigger battles ahead before the December 31 finale.

Can Scores Recover?

The show still holds its core appeal. Fans love the 1980s setting, the monster stories, and the nostalgic tone. Positive word-of-mouth could lift scores before the final episodes air.

The mixed reaction reflects high expectations. Viewers have followed Eleven, Hopper, and the rest of the cast for nine years. They want a strong ending.
