Usha Vance, wife of Vice President JD Vance, has addressed rumors about her marriage after she was seen without her wedding ring during a public appearance.
The couple has been married since 2014 and has three children. Usha Vance became the first Indian-American Second Lady earlier this year, following Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Rumors started after she visited Camp Lejeune, a military training facility in North Carolina, on 19 November with First Lady Melania Trump. She was seen without her ring. A spokesperson told People magazine that the ring was missing for practical reasons: “She is a mother of three young children, who does a lot of dishes, gives lots of baths, and forgets her ring sometimes.”
Speculation also followed an earlier event at Turning Point USA. Erika Kirk, widow of political activist Charlie Kirk, praised Vice President Vance during her speech and hugged him. Usha was also thanked during the speech. The interaction drew attention online and added to rumors about the couple.
Vice President Vance has previously spoken about hoping his wife will share his Christian faith. He said: “Most Sundays, Usha will come with me to church. Do I hope, eventually, that she is somehow moved by the same thing that I was moved in church? Yeah… But if she doesn’t, then God says everybody has free will and so that doesn’t cause a problem for me.”
Despite small differences, the couple appears to maintain a strong partnership and continues to raise their children together.
