South Korean boy band BTS has achieved another major milestone in Japan. According to Billboard Japan, the group now has more than 20 songs that have each surpassed 100 million streams in the country.

One of their biggest hits, “Dynamite,” has set multiple records. As of August 2024, the song became the first track by a foreign artist in Japan to exceed 800 million streams on Oricon, Japan’s top music chart.

Previously, in April 2023, “Dynamite” reached 700 million streams, making it the fastest song by a male artist to hit that number. It took only about 16 months to gain an additional 100 million streams after that.

Globally, “Dynamite” also continues to break records. The song became the first K-pop group track to surpass 2 billion streams on Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform.

Released in August 2020, “Dynamite” was BTS’s first song performed entirely in English. It helped the group top the US Billboard Hot 100 chart for three consecutive weeks, marking the longest run at number one for a Korean act.

In Japan, BTS’s streaming success reflects their massive and loyal fanbase. Their songs frequently rank high on streaming platforms, and “Dynamite” received diamond certification from the Japan Record Association due to its huge streaming numbers.

BTS remains one of the most successful and influential K-pop groups worldwide. Their music continues to cross cultural and language barriers, attracting fans from all over the world.
