Tom Holland Praises Nolan’s The Odyssey: “Unlike Anything We’ve Ever Seen”

Actor Tom Holland has praised his experience working on The Odyssey, director Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated adaptation of Homer’s epic poem, calling it “the job of a lifetime.”

In a recent interview with GQ, the Spider-Man star described the project as “the best experience I’ve had on a film set.” Holland added, “It was exciting. It was different. And I think the movie is going to be unlike anything we’ve ever seen.”

Holland, who is part of an ensemble cast that includes Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, and Robert Pattinson, spoke highly of Nolan and producer Emma Thomas, calling them “the best in the business.” He said the opportunity to work closely with them was both inspiring and educational.

“I’ve never seen someone that can work the way they do,” he said. “To get a front row seat to that and collaborate with a true master of his craft was the best experience I’ve ever had.”

Scheduled to premiere on July 17, 2026, The Odyssey tells the story of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, and his long, perilous journey home after the Trojan War. Nolan’s film is expected to deliver a visually ambitious and emotionally charged take on the classic myth.

Holland also shared his admiration for co-stars Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway, saying, “They’ve always been my heroes. To share scenes with them, to learn from them, to become friends with them — I couldn’t have asked for a better job.”

He added that he approached each day on set with “a real sense of purpose and a point to prove,” expressing gratitude for the chance to take on such a meaningful role.
