Rumor: Galaxy S26 Ultra to Feature Larger, More Powerful Sony Sensor

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra, expected to launch in January 2026, may receive a significant camera improvement, according to a new rumor from China.

The main camera sensor is reportedly set to be Sony’s new 1/1.1-inch type with a 200-megapixel resolution. This would be Sony’s first sensor with such a high pixel count.

For comparison, the current Galaxy S25 Ultra uses Samsung’s own 200 MP ISOCELL HP2 sensor, which is slightly smaller at 1/1.3 inches.

The larger sensor size in the rumored Sony model would allow more light to enter the camera, potentially resulting in much better photos, especially in low-light conditions.

However, there is some uncertainty about whether this sensor will actually appear in the S26 Ultra or be reserved for the Galaxy S27 Ultra in 2027.

The source of the rumor did not confirm which model will get the upgrade. Samsung has not officially commented on these claims.
