Cate Blanchett's Squid Game Character as Squid Game Season 3 Cameo for US Spinoff

American Squid Game Series to Start Production in December, Directed by David Fincher

David Fincher is bringing Squid Game to America.

The award-winning director is set to begin filming a new Squid Game spin-off series in December 2025. The production will take place in Los Angeles, with Master Key Studios leading the LA unit. Producers Zeus Zamani and Rhett Giles are attached to the project.

The series, reportedly titled Squid Game: America, will not remake the original Korean show. Instead, it will introduce new characters and deadly games set in the same universe. Sources say it will continue the global story, showing that the game is still active in other parts of the world.

Dennis Kelly, known for writing the British series Utopia, is said to be writing the script. Fincher, who has a strong partnership with Netflix, is expected to direct or oversee the project.

This news follows the surprise appearance of Cate Blanchett in the Squid Game Season 3 finale. She played a recruiter in Los Angeles, teasing the global expansion of the game.

Netflix has not officially confirmed the spin-off, but production reports suggest filming will start by the end of the year.

Fans of the series can expect more updates as the game moves from Korea to the United States.
