‘Squid Game’ Season 3 Wraps Story, but New Spinoff May Be Coming

Netflix just released the final episode of Squid Game Season 3 this Friday. The show’s creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, had planned Season 3 to be the last. However, he recently revealed ideas that could extend the story in a new way.

Hwang said he is considering a spinoff series. This new show would explore the three years between Season 1 and Season 2. It would focus on the recruiters and officers behind the deadly games, not the games themselves.

He said, “Maybe I could show what the recruiters or Captain Park or masked men were doing outside the gaming arena during that time.” Still, Hwang confirmed that Season 3 will finish the main story. He added, “I’m not saying I will close the door to spinoffs or sequels altogether because they say never say never.”

This spinoff would be very different from the original series. It might include the main character Gi-hun but would not show the games. Some fans find this surprising because the games are a key part of the show’s appeal.

It is not yet clear if the spinoff will happen. Netflix is likely to support Hwang, but the creator said the series’ production has been very stressful for him. He even lost some teeth during filming.

For now, fans can enjoy Season 3 and wait to see what comes next for Squid Game.
