Apple plans to unveil the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max in early September. These new models will highlight four key camera upgrades.
First, the telephoto lens will get a 48-megapixel sensor. This matches the 48MP sensors already on the wide and ultra-wide lenses. It may also change the default zoom levels in the Camera app.
Second, Apple will add multi-cam video recording to its native Camera app. Users will record video from two or more lenses at the same time, without using third-party software.
Third, the front-facing TrueDepth camera will jump to 24 megapixels. This doubles the current 12MP selfie camera and should improve detail in photos and video calls.
Fourth, Apple will replace the small “camera bump” with a full-width “camera island” across the back of the phone. The flash and other components will move into this wider bar, creating a cleaner look and potentially better heat management.
These four upgrades reinforce Apple’s focus on camera performance. When they arrive this fall, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will lead the company’s lineup in photography and video.
