Marvel fans may finally see Balder the Brave on the big screen. Reports suggest that Balder, Thor’s long-lost brother, might appear in Avengers: Doomsday to help fight Doctor Doom. This could change the entire course of the upcoming Avengers movie.
Balder was almost introduced in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with actor Daniel Craig reportedly cast in the role. However, Marvel cut his scenes before release. Later, Loki Season 2 teased his existence when statues of Asgard’s gods included Balder, and Mobius joked that “everyone knows about Balder the Brave.”
Now, as Thor and Loki prepare to face Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, adding Balder could give them the extra strength they need. In Marvel comics, Balder is known as a powerful warrior who has even ruled Asgard at times. He’s also one of the fastest Asgardians in battle.
Doctor Doom is set to be one of the biggest threats the Avengers have ever faced. With Iron Man and Captain America gone, the team needs leaders. Bringing in Balder could be a major boost for the heroes, especially as the MCU focuses more on its next generation of characters.
Avengers: Doomsday will release in theaters on December 18, 2026.
