Jennie on Hot Ones Spicy Wings Challenge

BLACKPINK’s Jennie Melts Down During Hot Ones Spicy Wing Challenge but Shares Heartfelt Stories and Calls for Jisoo to Join Next

On June 19, BLACKPINK’s Jennie appeared on the popular web series Hot Ones, where guests answer questions while eating increasingly spicy chicken wings.

Jennie, who said she does not usually eat spicy food, found the challenge very hard. She started the show with confidence but soon asked for help and even ran tearful laps around the table as the heat grew.

Jennie told host Sean Evans, “In my daily life, I have nothing — no spice in my life. I don’t like spicy food or anything to do with spice. If anything, I like things plain, but here I am, facing my fear.” At 29 years old, she followed in the footsteps of her BLACKPINK bandmates Rosé and Lisa, who faced the challenge before her.

While talking about her debut solo album Ruby, her skincare routine, and being a hamster mom, Jennie struggled more with each hotter wing. She joked, “I think I’m allergic to spice!” The toughest moment came at wing number eight, coated with the fiery Da’ Bomb hot sauce.

Jennie said, “This is no joke,” and desperately fanned herself. She took a dramatic lap around the table, grabbed milk and ice cream, and cried out, “God, help me!” After calming down, Jennie was asked if she thought Jisoo, the only BLACKPINK member who has not yet appeared on Hot Ones, would take on the challenge.

Jennie replied with confidence, “100%, because she is the one who taught me spicy and she’s the other you. Like she made me eat spicy food with her ever since we were trainees. So, I think Jisoo should come on this show. You’re gonna love it.”

Jennie also said that her reaction was much stronger than Rosé and Lisa’s, who seemed much calmer during their episodes. She admitted, “If they’re doing it, maybe I can do it too. But I can’t!”
